Abstract

Business education is at a critical juncture. How are we to justify the curriculum in undergraduate business awards in Aotearoa New Zealand? This essay suggests a philosophical framework for the analysis the business curriculum in Western countries. This framework helps us to see curriculum in a context of global academic communities and national needs. It situates the business degree in the essential tension which modernity (Western metaphysics) creates and which is expressed in an increasingly globalised economy. The tension is between those who insist that the degree is to serve modernity and those who hope that it may contribute to a new era of justice and harmony with nature. One critical battle ground for the business curriculum is the subject Business Ethics. The business ethics curriculum often indicates the intention of the business ethics degree itself. Kant‟s distinction between heteronomy (rule following) and autonomy (making your own decisions) provides us with a means to judge the purposes of business ethics courses: there are courses which seek to produce reliable and compliant (heteronomous) employees, and there are those which seek to produce independent creative (autonomous) human beings

آنتونیوس و کلئوپاترا نمایشنامه‌ای عاشقانه و تراژیک اثر ویلیام شکسپیر است. این نمایشنامه آنتونی سردار بزرگ رومی را چون عاشق دل باخته‌ای تصویر می‌کند که آنچنان در دام عشق کلئوپاترا، ملکه مصر، اسیر گشته که سلطنت و لشکرکشی و مسئولیت‌های دیگر خود را در مقام سرداری رومی به هیچ می‌شمارد. و اگرچه ضرورت اقتضا می‌کند که به خاطر سازش با همکار خود قیصر اکتاویوس به روم بازگردد و با خواهر او ازدواج کند، عشق کلئوپاترا بار دیگر باعث می‌شود که همه چیز را ترک کند و به مصر بازگردد. عاقبت رقابت سیاسی بین دو سردار رومی منجر به جنگ می‌شود و آنتونی شکست می‌خورد و خودکشی می‌کند. کلئوپاترا هم پس از مرگ دلدادهٔ خود برای این که او را در رکاب قیصر اکتاویوس به اسارت به روم نبرند، دست به خودکشی می‌زند.

Antony and Cleopatra is a tragedy by William Shakespeare. The play was probably performed first circa 1607 at the Blackfriars Theatre or the Globe Theatre by the King's Men. Its first known appearance in print was in the First Folio of 1623.
