چکیــــده:

The recent earthquake have been shown steel moment frame (SMF) with weld connections are so brittle. According to researches, the more damage were due to cracking of the weld between the beam flange and the column face and induced concentrated stresses in this area. A useful approach to reduce the stress concentration at the panel zone is using of reduce beam section (RBS). Given the enormous impact of seismic behavior and ductility of the panel zone, RBS moves plastic hinge formation at appropriate distance from column face. In this study, two bolted moment connections and welded connections, in both ordinary SMF and RBS, have been modeled and compared with each other during cyclic behavior by numerical method. This study show that the RBS connections are increased 25% and 30% the ductility of beam and panel zone on bolt moment connections and weld moment connections respectively.

چکیده:
The Response modification factor R represents a number of structure behaviors including ductility, overstrength and the inherent redundancy. Thus, this factor is to be defined according to the type of lateral force resisting system. However, there are some complexities and/or uncertainties with regard to the codes related to the R factor in terms of height, form of irregularities and structural systems. In the present study, assuming a low-rise, vertically irregular structure with a heliport and a dual structural system, and applying a complete design, including a nonlinear finite element approach, pushover analysis, and implementation of different codes, an extensive investigation of the R factor has been conducted for different orientation of concrete core and/or irregularities in structure. It is expected that with the help of to this wide-ranging study, we can come up with an appropriate and reasonable understanding of the R factor in these types of structures.

چکیده:
In this article responses of seven story building excited by the horizontal component of fault-parallel (permanent) displacement and fault-normal pulses with different magnitudes and time lags are investigated. In the considered model each storey consist of a rigid beam connected to two axially rigid mass-less columns by linear rotational springs and dashpots. The system of coupled equations of motion has been solved by the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method .The drift responses show that time lag of input ground motion records has influence on structure responses. Because of the large initial velocity present in the ground motion near earthquake faults the story drifts quickly exceed the typical design levels and fault-normal pulses produce more intense drift demands relative to those for fault-parallel displacements and it must be noticed in near fault zone designs.
